How to get to Lagunas de Zempoala

Driving route, public transport and tips from CDMX and Cuernavaca

Lagunas de Zempoala National Park is an easy day trip from Mexico City. It sits on Federal Highway 95 (Mexico–Cuernavaca), about 20.3 km from Cuernavaca and roughly two hours from the CDMX.

By car

From Mexico City, take Federal Highway 95 south toward Cuernavaca. After Cuernavaca, follow the signed road to the park; the entrance is about 20.3 km on. There is a staffed parking area near the entrance that fills early on weekends.

Public transport

From the Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oriente (TAPO) or Tasqueña in CDMX, take a bus to Cuernavaca (Pullman de Morelos or similar). In Cuernavaca, take local transport toward the park; coordinate it with opening days (Saturday, Sunday and holidays).

Travel tips

The park only opens weekends and holidays from 09:00 to 18:00. Arrive early, bring cash for the 95 MXN entry, food and water, and download offline maps because signal is intermittent.
